COUNSELLOR

With over a decade in the social service field and as a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC #10002963), registered clinical counsellor (RCC #16874), ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP), Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and master of counselling (MC), as well as outside workshops and programs, I work with clients to manage life’s circumstances and find healthier ways of engaging with self and others.

My expertise lies in working with couples using Gottman Levels 1&2 to address harmful relationship dynamics and achieve a deeper and more meaningful relationship. From communication, conflict and intimacy to infidelity, trauma and betrayal, we can work to get your relationship where you long for it to be. I specialize in working with parents to understand challenging behaviours, support their child’s development, and work through parenting struggles. I am comfortable addressing complex issues in individual and couples sessions from trauma, and chronic illness to life transitions and more.

I provide ADHD-informed care to clients when suitable and hold the ADHD - Certified Clinical Service Provider designation, which represents my extensive additional training for and experience in supporting clients with ADHD.

I have a trauma-informed practice with a history of providing trauma counselling to clients who have experienced challenging life circumstances and events. With the completion of multiple specialized trainings to support work with clients, I am highly skilled in supporting recent trauma needs in the immediate days and weeks following an event, as well as longer-term therapies.

When you come into a session, I will offer compassion when you are feeling vulnerable and calmness when things feel chaotic. There is a reason you feel the way you do and you do not have to face it alone. You can count on a safe and accepting space to share your concerns and, in turn, I will offer support and guidance along your journey.

Seeking counselling is a step in the right direction and I am glad that you have landed at this site in your investigation into finding what is right for you.

  • Providing phone and video/virtual counselling to clients across British Columbia, I work with children, youth and adults, and support both individuals and couples.

When you come for a session, I'll offer calmness when things feel chaotic and compassion when you're feeling vulnerable. The goal is to support clients in achieving greater insight, growth and connection with others. My approach to the therapeutic session is rooted in the belief that every person longs to be understood and accepted for who they are.

With specialization in working with couples using the Gottman Method. I've completed Levels 1 & 2 of the Gottman Method training program, which is one of the most research-driven therapies to date. I use this approach to identify harmful relationship dynamics and support couples to develop the skills to achieve healthier communication patterns and increased intimacy, affection, empathy, understanding and respect. I strive to equip couples with tools to continue building their relationship between sessions and after completing counselling.

I have extensive experience supporting parents. Using positive parenting interventions to help them understand their child’s behaviours and overcome challenges. My focus when working with parents is to help stabilize the family, increase attachment, and build resiliency. I also support individuals and couples adjusting to the transition to parenthood and those experiencing new parent isolation and loneliness.

I also work with clients of all ages and stages of life. I am comfortable working with complex issues including abuse, trauma, neglect, family issues, attachment wounds, and grief and loss. I can help clients address difficulties with emotional regulation, anger management, conflict management and addictions/substance use. I can offer support to work on self-esteem, boundary setting, stress and burnout, depression and anxiety. I can work with clients to explore their identity, sexual orientation, and sense of purpose and meaning. Additionally, I can help clients through life transitions, including separation and divorce.

I draw from a broad collection of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and more, to strategically support each client. The focus is on providing sound, safe, non-judgmental sessions to clients.

I have been supporting children, youth, adults, couples and families in a variety of roles since 2010. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and completed a Master of Counselling program at the City University of Seattle. Available weekdays, weekends, daytime and evenings.
